Fishing… For Squid or For Future?

Early morning the next day at 5am we finally reached the jetty, waited until around 8am for the first boat to arrive. The boat ride was both devastating and exciting at the same time. Devastating as the boat keep bumping up and down due to the pretty huge waves which made my stomach sick but I didn’t show any sick sign as I was, you know, trying to act tough in front of that special someone. Exciting as the Foundation guys are off to holiday at Pulau Pemanggil (until now I have no idea since when it existed). Just act exciting with me alright. Thanks. The place was not as exotic as expected with nice resorts and beached. Instead it has a old and antique inn. We guys were given the highest floor which requires us to climb the stairs as steep as 60 degrees in order to get to our room. However, hard work pays off. The scenery is just amazing from the top floor of the inn.

Enough of my crap. Lets go back to see what this trip has to do with me and my sweetheart-to-be at that time. Nothing much happened after we reached the island. Just playing at the beach, eat, and continue eating. Well, finally, night falls. After dinner, I saw her forced by her friends to play cards. Being a sweet and innocent girl obviously, she cant play cards. I was courageous enough to take the initiative to sit beside her and start teaching her how to play. Later at the midnight, a few of us decided to waste some time at the jetty to try out our luck for any fishes or squids. This would be a great chance for me to get to know her. At that time I found no reason for her to go fishing with me as we don’t really know each other and its quite late at night. However it came to my surprise that she replied my invitation with “yes”. I was so happy at that time. Miracle do happens.

We had a great conversation that night at the jetty. We got to know each other’s background and another surprise and joy that came to me was that, she is a Christian as well! (Well, before this I told myself to get only and only a Christian girlfriend). And as I’ve mentioned before, somehow she just appeared special to me, in a way that I couldn’t explain. Back to my room, thoughts were gushing into my mind about his wonderful girl. I calmed myself down, telling myself to take things slowly as I really need to know her more, as in really deeper before I try to work things out. After that, I rest my head and within 5 seconds, I was totally knocked out.Thats all for the fishing part of the story. Now every time I look back at that moment, I just feel so amazing and relieved that I had a chance to go fishing with her. Because if not of that, I might not have a chance ever to know her anymore. Kind of scary when I come to think of what if we didn’t go fishing together? Nightmare…

And for your information, I didn’t get any fishes or squid at that night. But I got myself a mermaid.
