What more do you want from a guitar?

What’s Wrong?!?!

Seriously, I don’t know what’s wrong with the people across the net and YouTube. Well, I’m just referring to those who commented on current guitar masters like Steve Vai and Joe Satriani. I just read across comments that go like “Vai is just starting to be a pimple on Jimi Hendrix’s a–” or “…but Jimi is just God of Guitar”.

Indeed Jimi Hendrix is a great and awesome guitarist cum the pioneer of the instrumental rock which much influences modern guys like Vai, Satriani, Petrucci, Malmsteen and many more. That is how things developed from the past until now and that is why we have musics from Vai, Satriani, Petrucci, Malmsteen and many more as instrumental rock a category itself.

However, Jimi Hendrix is overrated and many people think that no one can match him. Come on, get a live. Hendrix is just a guitarist like Vai and Satriani. Just that he is very creative and he pioneered this instrumental rock thing. He is dead anyway. I just don’t understand why people worship and see Hendrix as a god. Just like Satriani was the teacher of Vai, no one actually worship and adore him like he is a god. Look at them, their creativity creates wonders too.
Isn’t it better to have variety of style of music? If the world only have music that sounds like Hendrix, I wouldn’t listen to music anymore because I will get so bored of it! And personally, I think the influences Vai and Satriani have has more healthy impact on the world. They don’t take drugs like Hendrix did (until he overdid it and killed himself), they are married men with only one wife (Hendrix has god-knows-how-many wifes girlfriends), they don’t smash and burn guitars like Hendrix did, they took the innovations of Hendrix further by a step, they did not kill themselves (duh!). But they produce music just like Hendrix. If it were you, which do you prefer?

I respect and salute Vai, Satriani, Petrucci more than Hendrix himself.
